Great Gatsby Inspired Wedding @ St Clair Centre for the Arts
This wedding was as creative and personal as it was beautiful. Melissa and Adam had decidedĀ on a Great Gatsby-inspired theme, working with Marz for lighting and special effects and Compliments G’lor forĀ decor to bring their theme to life. A palette of soft amber, rose gold, ivory and glittering gold tablecloths made the ballrooms of St Clair Centre for the Arts sparkle. An elegant string light canopy framed the head table, with chandeliers adding an additional touch of glamour. In the corner sat a shining black Mustang convertible, which served as the feature of the couple’s grand entrance. A dramatic choreographed entrance spearheaded by Marz featured the couple “driving” into the ballroom, complete with the roaring noise of a car. The wedding party danced their way to the head table to the song “All of the Lights” by Kanye West and Rihanna. Once the dance party got started, Marz broke out the laser and low lying fog, triggering a burst of cheers when the DJ began to play “5 Hours” by Deorro. It was an incredible night, and we were so happy to be a part of this amazing couple’s special night. Thanks Melissa and Adam, for choosing Marz to help bring your vision to light!

MARZ Wins Canadian Wedding Industry Award
Nothing like some exciting news to brighten up a rainy Wednesday!
We arrived at the office today to find a package from the Canadian Wedding Industry Awards, announcing we have won a 2014 CWIA Award for the Best Use of Technology at a Wedding in Ontario!
We’ve always told clients that the best way to transform their venue into the event of their dreams is through technology (such as lighting or video projection). It’s the most powerful way to create an atmosphere and ambiance that guests will always remember. A beautiful atmosphere is what sets the truly spectacular event apart from the average. It’s what makes your guests go “wow!” when they walk into the room.
In saying that, what better time to revisit some of the amazing atmospheres Marz has crafted for its clients. Enjoy some event eye candy!

MARZ Booth a Huge Hit at the 2015 Wedding Extravaganza
With every New Year comes the annual Wedding Extravaganza – one of our favourite times to reconnect with old friends, and make new ones as we meet the newly engaged couples strolling through the show.
This year, we showcased a brand new booth design, with a romantic, vintage feel. We got an incredible response, with everyone falling for our custom LOVE letters and vintage-bulb chandelier. We had to move for so many photos, the booth is probablyĀ all over Pinterest by now!
A romantic backdrop set the stage for our booth, with string lightsĀ strung vertically along ivory drape for an intimate, warm look that would be fantastic behind a head table or as a custom Photo Booth backdrop.
Our custom LOVE letters really stole the show, with brides lining up to ask about bookingĀ the rustic yet elegant piece for their wedding.
A custom-designed vintage bulb chandelier by MARZ featured a variety of bulbs strung from a reclaimed wooden door. The fixture had many people asking about designing a similar fixture for their own homes. It would certainly make a statement above a dining room table or kitchen island! Itās also a great statement piece for events ā imagine how gorgeous a collection of vintage bulbs would look dangling above the head table at a wedding!
As amazing as our booth was, it was just the tip of what MARZ showcased at the wedding show. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post, with photos of the Interactive Wedding Gallery illuminated by MARZ, as well as the 3D Marz Cake!
Year in Review PT. 3
August was our busiest month of the year, with two festivals, a concert, corporate events and lots of weddings. In fact, we had so much going on that it warrants it’s own post!
The month Ā was ushered in by a beautiful wedding, with decor by Elegance by Design. We got the opportunity to work in a really unique space, part of which was a warehouse that housed an incredible car and motorcycle collection. Wedding guests were invited to enjoy cocktails and a game of pool surrounded by these amazing vehicles and lighting by Marz Lighting. Using gels and conventional fixtures, we gave the room a vintage lounge feel by spotlighting the cars in warm sepia tones. The wedding itself was lit with vibrant red LEDs, making for a truly unique space to celebrate such a special day.
The first festival of August was Pride Fest – something we absolutely love to be a part of, and have been for several years now. With acts ranging from DJs, drag queens and aerialists, we had the chance to light some very entertaining performers. Our set design was simple and sleek, yet had strong visual impact. Spandex triangles were illuminated by colour changing LEDs, framed off by truss structures with LED bars and TVs for sponsor logos, and accented by fog that was made even more dramatic with coloured lighting. It was a true spectacle, and a great time for all involved!
The weekend after Pride Fest brought one of our busiest of the year – a Jamieson Vitamins tent party, gorgeous wedding in one of the Caesars Windsor ballrooms, set design for a corporate event at Caesars Windsor, audio and staging for Alley Art, and audio, staging and 3D mapping for Balloonapalooza – we had our hands full, but had a blast!
Working alongside Elegance by Design (who provided the decor) and Modish Rentals (who provided the chic lounge furniture), and thanks to Steve Pomerleau Photography, the wedding was captured in all its beauty for the Windsor StarĀ (the article can be seen here: Ā http://www.windsorstar.com/Same+love+traditions/8906975/story.html), which was wonderful to see. We helped to turn the ballroom into the couple’s very own nightclub, complete with a custom monogram and icy blue uplighting.
Across the hall at Caesars Windsor was an Everyday Style event that allowed us to flex our creative muscles with a unique and vibrant set design. We think it turned out beautifully, and can’t wait to come up with a design for next year!
On the weekend of August 17-18, we participated in both Alley Art on Maiden Lane and the DWBIA’s Balloonapalooza, which took over the streets of downtown Windsor. Vendors from around the city and surrounding area sold unique merchandise while enjoying entertainment with staging and audio provided by Marz Media. Meanwhile, we were also running audio on the Balloonapalooza main stage. The most exciting part of the event, however, was working with Suede Productions on 3D Image Mapping on the downtown Armouries. A powerful sound system allowed people to literally “feel the music” as imagery created by Suede made the building come to life, thanks to our 3 (yes, 3!) 15,000 lumens projectors.

August finished off with a Big Sean concert at DTE, which featured Nicki Minaj! Working with these awesome artists is always exciting, and we aim to help make their show the best it can possibly be with lighting design that enhances their performance and captures the imaginations of the audience.
Keep an eye out for our next post, when we wrap up our review of 2013!
Year in Review PT. 2
Continuing on from our previous post, we are reliving our biggest gigs of the year. Following the Windsor Star Grand Opening was lighting the Walkervilles music video!
Please Baby Stay by the Walkervilles was filmed at the Capitol Theatre, and featured lighting design by Marz Media. We’ve had the chance to work with the Walkervilles on several occasions now, and can’t wait to see what they do in what is sure to be a very exciting future!
In June, we lit up Lakewood Park for Art of Eating, a festival we have been a part of since it’s inception. An elegant blanket of festoons provided soft, warm white light for those enjoying the food and wine offerings, while colourful tree lighting and light patterns illuminated the surrounding area for a surreal, beautiful environment.
That same month, we worked with a beautiful couple to light up their stunning tent wedding on the grounds of Fort Malden in Amherstburg. Elegant string lights created a canopy of soft, warm white light, giving the tent a vintage vibe. An amber wash lit up the cigar and whiskey bar, while coloured LED fixtures cast a soft glow on trees lining the river. An inconspicuous audio set up allowed the Walkervilles to entertain guests as they sipped cocktails at barrel tables and mingled the historic grounds. Working alongside Soiree Event Extraordinaire, who did the beautiful decor, it was truly a wedding to remember, and one we are very proud to have been a part of.
In July, we got the chance to be a part of the International Dragonboat Festival for the first time. Working with the Dragonboat Festival organizers was a real pleasure, and the park looked absolutely stunning. LED colour washes made for a vibrant, nightclub atmosphere between the vendor tents. Each of the bar tents were transformed into mini clubs with their own looks – feminine, elegant pink with a chandelier for the Martini tent, vintage bulbs for those who want to chill under soft, warm white lighting, and moving intelligent lights with washes of purple and blue for the bar tent. We can’t wait to light up the park again next year!
We’ve been a part of so many great events this year – stay tuned for our Year in Review, part 3.
